What Is PPGI Steel?

PPGI is short for pre-coated galvanized steel sheet. As the name suggests, it uses hot-dip galvanized steel as the base material. Then the galvanized steel plate is cleaned and pre-treated to remove the oil and dust on the surface. Then, the prepared base material is coated with an organic coating, such as PE, SMP, HDP, PVDF, etc. We offer different types of coatings, such as Japanese coatings, Aksu Nobel coatings and so on. This continuous coating process is known as the plate coating process and results in the multilayer structure of PPGI steel. The layers include a base material layer, a galvanizing layer, a pretreatment (chemical conversion coating) layer, a primer layer, and a top/back coating. These include the thickness and width, the grade of material used, the paint type and thickness, the finish, and the order quantity. For instance, we mainly use galvanized steel with zinc coating ranging from Z30 to Z275. For the same size, prepainted steel with Z30 as the base metal is generally less expensive than steel with Z275 as the base metal. Additionally, stock widths of 1,200mm and 1,000mm are less costly than widths of 914mm and 1,219mm due to the production waste generated during manufacturing. Furthermore, there is a price difference of about $15 per ton between orders of 20 tons and 100 tons. Typically, bulk orders receive more competitive pricing.
